- half c (about 2 7/8 oz) fine yellow cornmeal
- a quarter c flour
- 3/4 t garlic powder
- half t paprika
- one t salt, divided
- one egg, lightly beaten
- two t of water
- eight oz fresh okra, cut to 1/2-inch-thick rounds
- half cup bottled white barbecue sauce
Mixing cornmeal, flour, garlic powder, paprika also half t salt in shallow dish. Whisk together the egg and water in a separate shallow dish.
Preheat the air fryer to four hundred °F for three minutes. Meantime, dip half the okra in egg mixture; removing okra, letting excess drip off and transfering to cornmeal mixture, tossing to coat well. Transfer the coated okra to a plate. Repeat the process using the remaining okra.
Lightly coat the air fry basket with cooking spray. Add okra to basket in a single layer; coat generously with cooking spray. Bake until golden and crispy, eleven to fourteen minutes, tossing in the okra and brushing with additional cooking spray halfway through cooking.
Remove okra from basket; sprinkle evenly with remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt. Serve immediately with barbecue sauce.
